Baby Loss Awareness Memorial Service on Sunday 14 October Posted on 9 Oct 2018

Bereaved parents are invited to a special memorial and thanksgiving service which is being held later this week.

On Sunday 14 October Coventry Cathedral will be hosting the event as part of Baby Loss Awareness Week.

The service which will take place at 2pm will be an opportunity for anyone affected by the loss of a baby to pause, reflect and remember all the babies who have been lost.

It doesn’t matter when or how a baby was lost – the service is open to anyone and their families.

Reverend Ricarda Witcombe said: “The informal event will include some music, readings and poems and prayers. For some it is a religious service, for others it is spiritual and for others, it is reflective – how people participate is up to them.”

Bereaved parent Amy Jackson who founded the Lily-Mae Foundation in memory of daughter who sadly died in 2010 said: “This is an opportunity to be in the company of people who have suffered the same heartache of losing a baby.  It doesn’t matter when it happened, everyone is welcome to join us and remember their baby.”

Refreshments will be served after the service.

A number of events are being held to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week:

  • Information stalls being held at George Eliot Hospital during the week
